Planning a National Parks Road Trip Without Rushing It

January 12, 2026 8 min read

It's tempting to string together five parks in a week. It's a mistake. Two nights per park is the real minimum — one day to see the highlights, one to do a proper hike without watching the clock.

A route that actually works

Zion, Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon (South Rim) form a manageable loop from Las Vegas over ten to twelve days, with enough driving between them to reset without burning out. Add Antelope Canyon as a half-day stop between Zion and Bryce if permits allow.
